Description: 

Fitter: Fitters shall report to their shop foreman. The fitter’s responsibility is the fabrication of all items that are built at J&G. A fitter must have a basic understanding of the safe operation of all hand tools, overhead cranes, fork trucks, as well as the ability to identify all types of material used to fabricate specific products. He must be able to read prints or drawings, identify parts and produce products that conform to specifications. This position must possess proficiency using common tape measures, squares, bevel squares and other common welding tools. A fitter must pass a company administered weld test as well as mechanical testing per ASME Section IX. This position requires moderate manual material handling and lifting up to 60 lbs.

Tack Welder: Tack Welders will report to their shop foreman. A tack welder must have a basic understanding of all hand tools, power tools, tape measures, overhead cranes, fork trucks as well as the ability to set-up and use a welding machine. He must be able to read prints or drawings and identify parts pertaining to the drawings. This position requires the individual to be able to lift, bend, stoop and kneel in various positions as well as use standard ladders. A tack welder must pass a company administered weld test as well as mechanical testing per ASME Section IX. This position requires moderate manual material handling and lifting up to 60 lbs.

Welders: Welders report to their shop foreman. He must be able to set up and operate a weld machine for the correct weld process required by the drawings or prints. He shall have the ability to understand weld symbols, identify types of material and correct welding wire and gas to use in accordance to the Welding Procedure Specification. This position requires the individual to be able to lift, bend, stoop and kneel in various positions as well as use standard ladders. A welder must pass a company administered weld test as well as mechanical testing per ASME Section IX. Equipment to be used includes overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, grinders, Plasma cutters and cutting torches, etc. This position requires moderate manual material handling and lifting up to 60 lbs. .
